<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid erroneous detection and to be able to reduce pixel value comparison processing considerably, in detection of a re-insert field picture in telecine pictures. <P>SOLUTION: A movement detection result detected from a second field picture inputted prior to a currently-inputted first field picture is acquired (S1). An area including a portion where there is higher possibility that a movement in an inputted picture exists is determined as a pixel value area for comparison between the first field picture and a third field picture inputted two field periods before based on the movement detection result (S2), and a difference modulus sum of the pixel value of the first and third field pictures is calculated for the pixel value comparison area (S3). It is determined whether the first field picture is a re-insert field picture or not according to the judging on whether the difference modulus sum is equal to or less than a predetermined value or not (S4), and information indicating whether the second field picture is a re-insert field picture or not is outputted based on the result of the determination (S7). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
