Use of cement as thickening agent in the - production of polyester semi-fabricates

Polyester semi-fabricates in the form of sheets or plates are produced by (a) impregnating a fibrous reinforcement with a mixture of an unsatd. polyester with an acid no. of 10-100, a cross-linking monomer, a peroxide catalyst, an inhibitor, and a thickening agent consisting of cemtn, of (b) allowing the whole unit to rest for some time. The thickening agent is pref. Portland Cement. The cement is a cheap effective thickening agent, and also acts as filler.
