The input device (1) is free to move on an approximately flat surface and has an element near its underside (3) to sense motion relative to the surface for sending control instructions to the computer. The device is designed to enable approximately upright positioning of the operating hand during operation. It has a grip (14), especially in the form of a pistol or revolver grip with at least one input button in the form of a trigger (25). An independent claim is also included for a charger for the input device.
