The low noise hydraulic unit has a cubic frame enclosed on all sides, a motor and pump assembly, a reservoir for hydraulic fluid, and a inlet passage for the supply of air to the motor and pump assembly. The inlet duct (30) is constructed as a separate sub-assembly and fitted through a cut-out in one wall (16) of the frame (14) and mounted on another wall. The inlet duct is constructed as a sheet metal bent component, and the duct has a collar which lies against a wall of the frame.
