FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has illumination source, projection optic system, prism one face of which is illuminated at an angle close to critical angle for total reflection, system of photodetector elements and unit for processing images. Prism has non-isosceles right triangle cross-section, the lesser leg facet receiving finger imprints, greater leg facet being input/output surface and hypotenuse facet makes acute angle of 60-75 deg with the facet receiving finger imprints. The projection system, illumination source, and system of photodetector elements are articulation in front of the greater leg facet of the prism. EFFECT: high quality and accelerated process of identifying person from fingerprint data. 2 cl, 1 dwg
