PURPOSE: A method and a device for playing multimedia are provided to smoothly play the multimedia data in a limited play environment based on a single process by constructing a play/stop table for playing the SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) multimedia data. CONSTITUTION: A data input unit(110) inputs the SMIL data. A DOM(Document Object Model) tree generator(120) generates a DOM tree by parsing the SMIL data. A play table creator(130) creates the play/stop table for an SMIL image by referring to a structure of the DOM tree. A memory(140) stores the play table and the SMIL image data. A player(150) plays an SMIL image by referring to the play table. A controller(160) controls general operations for generating the DOM tree, creating the play table, and playing the SMIL image. |
