PURPOSE: A clearance type gas detector for detecting a gamma ray is provided to generate a signal in a short time sufficient for measuring a radiation amount of high level radioactive rays in addition to a radiation amount of a low level radioactive rays. CONSTITUTION: A clearance type gas detector for detecting a gamma ray includes a first detector(130) having first and second resistance plates forming a predetermined clearance from each other, and first and second electrodes respectively formed at a surface of the first and second resistance plates, the clearance being filled with gas and sealed, a first signal strip(110) formed on a top surface of the first detector for detecting a unidirectional electric signal, an insulation plate(150) mounted on a bottom surface of the first detector, a second detector(140) mounted on a bottom surface of the insulation plate and having the same structure with the first detector, a second signal strip(120) mounted on a bottom surface of the second detector for detecting an electric signal in a direction perpendicular to the detection direction of the first signal strip, a base panel(160) mounted on a bottom surface of the second signal strip, and a plurality of clamps(170) coupled with edge parts of the first and second strips.
