A gate valve (10) having a polymeric monolithic liner (12), the liner (12) having cylindrical flange portions (18, 22) projecting from either side to form a fluid passageway (14) through the liner (12), first and second (24a) housing portions forming a liner cavity, the liner (12) being disposed in the liner cavity, a first face ring (90) having a first cylindrical tubular portion (92) and a first radially outwardly projecting, annularly extending face ring flange (94), the first tubular portion (92) being received in the first annular flange portion of the liner (12), a second face ring (100) having a second cylindrical tubular portion (102) and a second radially outwardly projecting, annularly extending face ring flange (104), the second tubular portion (102) being received in the second annular flange portion (102) and a gate valve element (80) slidably received in a valve element cavity formed in the liner (12).
