Polyfluorinated nitriles having the formula C n F 2n+1 CH 2 CH 2 CN (I) in which C n F 2n+1 denotes a straight or branched perfluorinated chain and n is an integer from 1 to 20 are obtained by reacting between 0‹ and 250‹ C., with or without a solvent, a bromide or an iodide having the formula CnF 2n+1 CH 2 CH 2 Y, wherein Y is Br or I and a cyanide of the formula M(CN) b , wherein M denotes hydrogen, an ammonium radical or a metal of the Groups I A , I B , II A , IIB and VIII of the Periodic Table according to Mendeleev, or aluminium or lead, and b is a number equal to the valency of M in the cyanide. Polyfluorinated nitriles of the above Formula (I), in which n is a whole number from 5 to 20 inclusive, are novel.</p> |
