PURPOSE: A plastic discriminating apparatus is provided to rapidly and precisely discriminate or select plastic from plastic samples by analyzing a near infrared ray reflected from a surface of plastic. CONSTITUTION: A plastic discriminating apparatus includes a halogen lamp(102) for radiating halogen light onto a plastic sample(101) and a focusing/collimator lens(110) for focusing and collimating halogen light reflected from the plastic sample(101). An optic fiber(111) is provided to transfer the infrared ray, which is focused and collimated through the focusing/collimator lens(110). A monochrometer(120) detects the infrared ray and converts the infrared ray into an electric signal. An amplifying part(130) having a pre-amplifier and a log amplifier is provided to amplify the electric signal generated from the monochrometer(120). An A/C converter(141) converts an analog signal generated from the amplifying part(130) into a digital signal. A digital signal treating section(142) controls the monochrometer(120). A database(152) is provided to supply a predetermined parameter value to the digital signal treating section(142).
