PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a means for miniaturizing a laterally-connected dual-mode SAW (surface acoustic wave) filter. SOLUTION: The laterally-connected dual-mode SAW filter, in which two reflection inverted type IDTs (interdigital transducers) are juxtaposed on the main surface of an ST-cut crystal substrate, is constituted in such a way that surface acoustic wave energy of symmetric and antisymmetric modes, which is excited between the IDT electrode region and the substrate region adjacent to the IDT electrode, is confined.
