FILTER UNIT FOR HIGHLY VISCOUS FLUID AND SPINNING PACK

A pleats type filter unit for use in filtering off foreign matter from a highly viscous fused organic polymeric compound, a polymer solution, etc. This filter unit is so constructed as to avoid the leakage of a highly viscous fluid to be filtered from a marginal portion of the filter and to avoid the deformation of filter by high filtration pressure. Support members (2) are superimposed on two major surfaces of sheet filter (1), and folded zigzag into pleats form. Periphery (4) of the resultant pleats disklike body is shaped into collar form, and both sides thereof are overlaid with a ring sheet or the like (5) constituted of a soft metal or a metal nonwoven fabric, and further covered with metal thin plate (6) and compressed so as to prevent the leakage of highly viscous fluid at the periphery (4). Pleats (7) at apex portions thereof are inflated so that adjacent apex portions of pleats are proximate to or partially in contact with each other. Thus, the reliability and advantage of pleats filter are realized, and the pleats filter is suitable for use in the process for producing a molding of organic polymeric compound, such as a synthetic fiber or a synthetic film.
