A roller grid for sorting materials, e.g. for refuse sorting for recycling, has a grid of parallel rollers (1) set across the feed direction of the material. The rollers are fitted with discs (2) to form effective grid apertures (E) between adjacent rollers. The grid aperture is controlled by the spacing (A) of the rollers as well as the spacing (C) and axial position of the discs. A simple adjustment of the aperture is provided by having two discs on each site, each half separately fixed to the roller with individual adjustment.
