Bank note condition checking device for identifying tears in the edge areas of bank notes with plastic substrates uses an integrated conveyor system with drive belts and sensors

An integrated conveying system has driving belts (10-12) driven by a drive roller (13) to convey bank notes (BN) to be checked with the belts nipping the notes from behind. In the system's edge area there are approach inclines/runners (30,32) to act on the edge areas of the notes to be checked. Illuminating (36) and optical (35) sensors detect tears. An Independent claim is also included for a bank note processing machine.
