A mechanical digger has a first actuator (24) for longitudinal and transverse motion, a second actuator (26) for transverse motion and a third actuator (27) for up/down motion. An electro-hydraulic control box (64) contains six electrovalves which are controlled by push buttons (28,29,31,32,33). According to the push buttons operated the three actuators control five hydraulic jack distributors (46,48,49,53,57,61) in required modes.
