摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a PDP having a variable vertical synchronization frequency. SOLUTION: The driving method is made suitable for a plasma display panel (PDP) that is provided with a variable vertical synchronization frequency, total sustain pulses and multisubfields each of which includes an amount of frequencies required to sustain electric discharges. The method consists of a process in which input frames are inputted to the PDP, a process in which an image reading value is computed in accordance with the input frames, a process in which the vertical synchronization frequency is changed to a new vertical synchronization frequency based on the image reading value, a process in which the total sustain pulses are changed to new total sustain pulses in accordance with the image reading value, a process in which the amount of frequencies of each subfield is rearranged based on the new vertical synchronization frequency and a process in which output frames are displayed onto the PDP in accordance with the new vertical synchronization frequency, new total sustain pulses and the subfields.
