PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for flameproofing heat treatment, with which the flameproofing heat treatment of a carbon fiber precursor strand is uniformly carried out and productivity is improved without impairing qualities. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for the flameproofing heat treatment equipped with a flameproofing oven 6 with which hot air in the vertical direction is sent to the carbon fiber precursor strand 4 turning up and horizontally traveling and the strand is made flameproof and which is the flameproofing oven 6 having a plurality of slits through which the strand 4 enters and goes out from the flameproofing oven 6 and returning rollers 10a, 10b, 10c and 10d which are arranged at both the sides of the flameproofing oven 6 and return the strand 4 entering and going out from a plurality of the slits to the flameproofing oven 6, the apparatus for the flameproofing heat treatment is equipped with heating means 12a, 12b, 12C, 12d and 12e for the strand on the upstreams of the slits 8a, 8b, 8e, 8h and 8i through which the strand 4 enters and goes out from the flameproofing oven among a plurality of the slits through which the strand 4 enters and goes out from the flameproofing oven 6.
