<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rudder angle sensor which allows easy acquisition of the absolute rudder angle of a steering. <P>SOLUTION: The rudder angle sensor 1 has a large diametrical gear 3 rotating in conjunction with a steering shaft 2, and a small diametrical gear 4 engaging with the large diametrical gear 3. The sensor comprises four magnets 7 placed at appropriate positions of the outer circumference of the large diametrical gear 3 at a 90 degrees interval, a reference position detecting sensor 8 placed at an appropriate position on the fixed side facing the outer circumference of the large diametrical gear 3 and detecting the approach of the magnet 7, a rotation angle detecting magnet 5 provided in the small diametrical gear 4 and rotating in conjunction therewith, and a magnetic sensor 6 placed on the fixed side adjacent to the small diametrical gear 4 and detecting magnetic lines of force of the rotation angle detecting magnet 5. A rotation angle of the steering shaft 2 is obtained based on an output signal of the magnetic sensor 6 and an output signal of the reference position detecting sensor 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
