PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ashtray capable of surely extinguishing a cigarette without depending on stored water. SOLUTION: A cigarette-extinguishing tool 20 is attached through a coil spring 12 to the upper edge of a side wall 3 of an ashtray body 1. The cigarette- extinguishing tool 20 comprises a cylinder 11 with a lid opened at one end and formed of an iron pipe, and the cylinder having 9 mm diameter obtained by experiment is used as a size capable of producing an oxygen-deficient state in the interior of the cylinder 11 by inserting the end of a burning cigarette C, and 30 mm length corresponding to about half of the length of the cigarette is used as the length of the cylinder. The open end 11a of the cylinder 11 is formed in trumpet-like shape to make insertion of the cigarette easy and when the end of the burning side of the cigarette C is caught is inserted into the cylinder 11, the end becomes an oxygen-deficient state in the cylinder 11 and extinguished. Since the cylinder 11 is attached by a coil spring 12 to the side wall of the ashtray body, the posture of the cylinder can freely be converted, the open end 11a of the cylinder 11 is turned toward the bottom 2 of the ashtray 10 and ash A in the cylinder 11 is naturally dropped and recovered into the ashtray 10.
