PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alcohol-based mold wash composition which can alleviate a deterioration in casting quality due to gas or soot generated from a mold wash in casting without sacrificing advantages of the alcohol-based mold wash. SOLUTION: This mold wash composition includes a refractory aggregate, a sintering agent, a binder, and an alcoholic solvent. The sintering agent is a mineral containing water-swollen montmorillonite.
