PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardness measuring apparatus capable of highly accurately measuring the hardness of the surface of a hydraulic hose. SOLUTION: An indenter 9 protruded from a pressing surface 5 by a specific amount is pressed in the surface S1 of a specimen S, and the pressed depth of the indenter 9 is measured to detect the hardness of the surface of the specimen S in the hardness measuring apparatus. The specimen S is a hydraulic hose of which the surface S1 is a curved surface. The apparatus is provided with a holding means 13 for holding the specimen S and is provided with a load adding means 78 for providing a pressing force for the indenter 9 so as to adjust the pressing force to be provided for the load adding means 78.
