<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval device capable of simply retrieving data of an information processing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The CPU of this telephone set individually displays a plurality of registered names described in a telephone number table on a display part and also receives a user's determination instruction about the indicated registered names in retrieving a telephone directory. Further, the CPU makes sound data belong to each of the registered names, and outputs sound corresponding to sound data when a registered name to which the sound data belongs is displayed. Thus, the user can determine the displayed registered name with the sound.
