<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cord adjusting device by which the length of a cord can be adjusted simply in good appearance, and which can be used in any luminaire. <P>SOLUTION: The cord adjusting device is equipped with a hook part 20A for a ceiling hook cap and a body portion 20B, through which an electric cord is passed, and which is provided under the hook part 20A. The cord suspended from the cap is inserted into an upper vertical groove 21, bent in a form of a loop by a cutout portion 22A and inclined grooves 23A, 23B and then inserted into a lower vertical groove 24.
