PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional technology wherein a very expensive buffer memory with a huge capacity to completely exclude errors is required because the buffer memory stores recording data produced without intermission even during retrial in the case of applying the retrial to the errors caused at recording an image to a recording medium. SOLUTION: A buffer memory 11 once stores audio/video data compressed by encoders 4, 5, and the data are recorded on an optical disk 13 after that. In this case, an MPU 14 controls variations in a bit rate for compressing the data by the encoders 4, 5 depending on increase/decrease in the data storage amount in the buffer memory 11.
