PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically open or close a sliding door without increasing costs, while reducing the labor required to assemble parts of a structure for opening/closing the sliding door, and enhancing the appearance of the door. SOLUTION: A wire 29 is connected to the folding door A at one end via an angle plate piece 26 mounted on the head rail face thereof and is hung on a pulley 12 pivotally supported against the upper end of a support panel P. A weight member 30 is connected to the other end of the wire 29 and suspended. A decorating panel edge 11 which is fitted over a butt end face k of the support panel P is formed in the shape of a pipe. When the panel edge 11 is fitted over the butt end face k the weight member 30 is contained within the panel edge 11 in a manner enabling the weight member to move up and down according to the opening or closing movement of the folding door A so that the weight member is not exposed to the outside.
