PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recorder and a DVD-R recorder, to which data can be buried into a surplus memory area without preliminarily preparing redundant data on the memory. SOLUTION: When the finalizing process is instructed and user data are not attained to a sector corresponding to the outside diameter of 70 mm, the data area RZone 1 is secured (ST23) without recording the data with respect to the DVD-R disk, next, the data unrecorded areas (whole areas of RZone 1) in the RZone 1 are made to the recorded state (ST24). This operation is repeated till the RZone is recorded on whole surplus areas 110 in data areas 105, and when the outside diameter of the data area 105 attain the sector corresponding to 70 mm by the user's data and dummy data, a DVD-R disk is (after recording the read-in/read-out area) made to the reproducible state, then the finalizing process is finished.
