The apparatus has a stator core (2) with sheets including core units, each having a tooth (5a-5h) and a yoke-portion in a strip-like array with adjacent core units coupled by notched portion. The stator core is shaped into an annular form by bending the core units at coupled portions to extend the tooth portions centrally and linearly when expanded. An exciting winding and output windings (9) are wound on the tooth portions. A rotor core is placed rotatably relative to the stator core such that gap permeance between the rotor core and the tooth portions changes sinusoidally as a function of the rotation angle.
