PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized electronic still camera which is not affected by a posture of a cameraman and is good in operability. SOLUTION: The operation becomes easy to be understood by providing a photographing operation area and a reproduction operation area. A right side face of a barrel and a left side face of the barrel of a lens-barrel portion 300 are different in shape, and a distance from an optical axis to the right side face of the barrel is shorter than a distance from the optical axis to the left side face of the barrel. The lens-barrel portion 300 is closer to a photographed object side than to a projecting portion from the left side face of the barrel in a hinge 117. A speaker portion 119 is provided at the left side face of the barrel and/or at a left side face end portion of the main body. A position to display an image and a position to generate a sound are almost at the same position. The speaker is arranged with the still camera kept small- sized. A flash receiving portion 303 is a pop-up portion together with a flash emitting portion 302 and is provided at a position close to a grip portion side to determine an accurate light.
