PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supervisory camera imaging apparatus and imaging method for not acquiring image information of an image needing protection of privacy and applying optimum image processing such as exposure control to a part required for a video image. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has a means for masking a light made incident onto an imaging element and a means for setting a masked part so as to be configured to allow a camera part not to acquire information with respect to privacy at all, and the camera part is provided with a function of applying optimum image processing such as exposure control to an image.
