PURPOSE: A method for calculating track pitch of a media capable of recording is provided to easily and exactly calculate track pitch of a recording media based on absolute time in pregroove and linear velocity without track jump. CONSTITUTION: A method for calculating track pitch of a media capable of recording includes the steps of producing linear speed of a disk, detecting absolute time information to a lead-out area start location of the disk, multiplying the linear speed by the absolute time information and producing the entire length of the track, and calculating pitch of the track based on the entire length of the track. The linear speed is produced based on a diameter corresponding to an inner circumference recording location accessed at the time of initial driving of the disk and an angle speed of the present recording location. The absolute time information is detected by third special information recorded in a lead-in area of the disk.
