PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve various problems in a conventional device such that it takes much time to display a recorded content after putting a recording medium to reproduction equipment, it takes further much time to read related information in each file one by one, and the displayed recorded content is difficult to understand. SOLUTION: On recording side, a data file 13 to be stored in the medium 15 is selected, a link file 17 associated with each data file or a description file 16 of the collection of related information is generated from the data file 13, and these files are recorded in the recording medium 15. On reproducing side, the content of the recording medium is displayed based on the description file 15 reproduced from a file reproduction means 23, and the data file 13 to be outputted is selected according to the instruction from a reproduction instruction means 22, and outputted after conversion from file format to output format by a data file output means 24.
