An electronic device having light emitting elements (21 to 26) driven by a high voltage such as LED. The electronic device includes a display unit (20) having a plurality of light emitting element sequences whose one end is supplied with a high voltage (Vh) higher than the power source voltage (Vdd) and a light emitting element drive unit (10) having drivers (12 to 14) whose one end is connected to terminals to which the other end of the plurality of light emitting element sequences is connected and which is turned on and off according to instruction signals (S1 to S3) so that current causing light emission of the light emitting element sequence corresponding to the ON period flows and a plurality of bypass means (15 to 17) for applying current not causing light emission to the light emitting element sequence connected when the corresponding driver is OFF. Thus, it is possible to use an IC of low voltage resistant design and reduce power loss.
