ELECTRONIC KEY DEVICE FOR VEHICLE AND VEHICLE STARTING CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit starting of an engine and to prevent a lock mode from being set, when an electronic key does not exist when performing an engine starting operation.

SOLUTION: This electronic key device is provided with an ID collating device 10 for performing an ID collation between the device 10 and an electronic key 20 when performing a vehicle starting operation and a decision device 10 for deciding whether or not the electronic key 20 exists within the vehicle when performing the vehicle starting operation. When both of an ID collation result and a decision result by the decision device 10 are affirmative, vehicle starting control devices 12 and 13 set the lock mode in which the vehicle is not started so far as a prescribed operation is subsequently not performed when the ID collation result by the ID collating device 10 is negative and the number of times of decision of the absence of the electronic key 20 within the vehicle reaches the prescribed number of times. The vehicle starting control devices 12 and 13 do not perform integration of the number of times of decision for setting the lock mode when the ID collation result by the ID collating device 10 is affirmative and the absence of the electronic key 20 within the vehicle is decided.
