PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of simply and quickly determining catecholamine in a sample with high sensitivity. SOLUTION: A sample containing catecholamine is added to an aqueous solution containing ternary complex of Tb (III)-amine-N-polycarboxylic acid complex, and photoreceptive ligand to prepared an aqueous solution with a pH of 11 to 13, yellowish green fluorescence is generated by excitation light. The concentration of catecholamine in the sample is found on the basis of attenuance of fluorescent intensity. Preferably, the intensity of generated fluorescence is collated with a calibration curve showing the relationship between the catecholamine concentration and the intensity of fluorescence to find the concentration of catecholamine in the sample.
