PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an electric parking brake device easily by a driver's intention when the device does not work at stop of the vehicle. SOLUTION: When a vehicle stops at step S101, a brake pedal is pushed at step S102, and an accelerator pedal is released at step S103, brake pressure P0 of a service brake is detected at step S105, the driver pushes the brake pedal further at step S116 and the brake pressure P0 increases exceeding the predetermined amount, the device is automatically operated at step S113. Accordingly, unlike to a case where the driver operates the device by operating a switch or a lever with his hand, it becomes possible to reduce the operation load of the driver. Also, since the driver can push the brake pedal without changing the line of sight, it is convenient in terms of security. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
