PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module in which the positioning between a light emitting point and a waveguide is unnecessary in mounting. SOLUTION: Concave grooves 201, 202 or the like which are formed to decrease the parasitic capacitance of a light emitting element are used for the alignment for mounting, a projection 206 for mounting which engages with the groove and a waveguide 207 or the like are formed by a forming technology, thus the positioning and adjustment of positions between the light emitting point 203 and the waveguide 207 at the time of mounting are freely conducted with high precision, and a passive alignment giving an excellent optical coupling efficiency is realized.
