<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer image receiving sheet which forms an image of high quality equivalent to the quality of a silver-salt photography, has high glossiness and smoothness, and is prevented from hurting an image receiving surface and hands. <P>SOLUTION: In the thermal transfer image receiving sheet, an receiving layer for receiving a sublimable dye is formed on a base material. The glossiness of the surface of the receiving layer is at least 50%, and the four corners of the image receiving sheet are rounded, in R1-5. During the handling of the image receiving sheet, for example, when the sheet is manufactured or fitted to a printer, the image receiving surface and the hands are prevented from being hurt. By using a laminated base material at least 150 μm in total thickness having a surface layer of a porous PET film as the base material, the image receiving sheet having high rigidity, a high grade appearance, and an excellent texture equivalent to those of the photographic paper of a silver-salt photography is obtained. The rounded shape of the image receiving sheet is formed by punching with the use of a blade die corresponding to the form of the sheet.
