PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preventive tool for foreign material mixing, securely preventing a foreign material from mixing in when harvesting tobacco leaves as well as sustaining high temperature injury prevention and grass prevention effect and to provide a method for cultivating tobacco. SOLUTION: This preventive tool has a plate coating member 10 coating the surface of a multi-sheet 110 around the root of the stem 102 of tobacco 100. The coating member 10 has a through part 12 to pass the tobacco stem 102 through and an insertion passage means 14 with one end communicating with the through part 12 and the other end connected with the periphery of the coating member 10 and attaching the coating member 10 to the through place of the through part 12 by insertion action from the outside. When the tobacco 100 grows to a certain extent, the coating member 10 is attached to the through place of the tobacco stem 102 by the insertion action from the outside. When harvesting, tobacco leaves 106 are harvested started from the leaves of the lower layer in a condition where the surface of a ridge around the root of the tobacco stem 102 is coated with the coating member 10.
