PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a common memory control method for receiving and transmitting I/O data straddling memory control apparatuses. SOLUTION: In a common memory of the memory control apparatuses, a step of storing an address of a common memory of other memory control apparatus as an object of receiving/transmitting I/O data, a step of recognizing an address of the common memory for managing a volume of an object to require I/O in a memory control apparatus A which received the I/O request from a host apparatus, a step of giving an instruction of establishing a path between common memories to be connected in the memory control apparatus A and a memory control apparatus B in the memory control apparatuses included in a packet format of a network and a switch device for switching a path between the common memories in accordance with an address of the common memory when the recognized address of the common memory corresponds to a common memory of other memory control apparatus B, and a step of notifying the host apparatus of the fact that the path is established for the I/O request are executed.
