PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image processing method, capable of controlling repetition of rear imaging reduction processings by reducing misdetections of a rear image mixed in a front surface, in reading out only the single-side image with a scanner or the like, to correct the rear imaging of the single-side. SOLUTION: In this color image processing method, for a digital color original image obtained by digital-inputting the original of a color-printed paper, a rear side image, having rear imaging surface imaging (of a single-side printed original placed with the printed side upward) or sight-through, is presumed by using a corrected image subjected to set-off processing. Recorrection processing is applied to a region, which is misdetected as a rear imaging region by using a statistical feature quantity consisting of one among the luminance, hue and saturation of a set-off component of each pixel of the rear side image or a combination of these, thereby selectively reducing the rear imaging or surface imaging.
