PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method to suppress consumption of a driving power source and also promote effective utilization of the driving power source. SOLUTION: Information concerning the driving power source of a recorder which records information on an information recording medium is obtained responding to a request for processing accompanied by recording of dummy data on the information recording medium (step 409, 413). Then, on the basis of the information concerning the driving power source, permission or prohibition of processing accompanied by recording of the dummy data is decided (steps 411, 415 to 419). Therefore, when the capacity of the driving power source is limited for example, the vast consumption of the driving power source can be prevented by prohibiting the processing accompanied by recording of dummy data requiring huge amount of processing time.
