PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary tool for assembly of a housing type joint to be used to prevent a gasket from being damaged when the gasket is inserted. SOLUTION: This auxiliary tool to be used for assembly of the housing type joint comprising a ring-shaped gasket 5 to be used in a condition across outer circumferential surfaces of end parts of both pipes 3 and 4 to be connected having housing edge engagement grooves 1 and 2 close to the ends, and a pair of housings 10 and 11 to be used in a connected and fixed manner to each other with both engagement edges 8 and 9 locked to edges 6 and 7 of the housing edge engagement grooves 1 and 2. A separation part 13 which has an overall shape same as or substantially same as that of the insides of the housing edge engagement grooves 1 and 2, and opened/closed to be attached/detached to/from the housing edge engagement grooves is provided in a middle of the auxiliary tool.
