A paper-making machine has an elongated press with a shoe (10) acting via an adjustable gap (N) against a drum (11). The machine further has a mantle-belt (13) sliding over the press shoe (10) end-face. That part of the press shoe (10) surface in contact with the drum (11) is esp. a thin plate (21) whose rear face is supported by hydraulic or pneumatic pressure. The shoe (10) consists of a main body (20) and a thin plate (21) defining two or three pressure chambers (24, 25, 26). The cover (21) has a projection (22) extending over the entire length of the shoe. The main body (22) has a matching detent (23). Together the projection (22) and detent (23) form and sub-divide a pressure chamber (24) into two or more chambers. The cover (21) surface incorporates a pocket (30) linked to one of the pressure chambers (24, 25, 26), guiding the pressure medium to the press shoe surface.
|
