<p>1303862 Valves VENAVCO Inc 9 March 1970 [13 March 1969] 11282/70 Heading F2V [Also in Divisions E1 and G3] A valve for controlling flow into a water closet has a chamber 52 mounted within the closet 12 and closed at the top by a diaphragm 48 which is adjustably connected to the stem 46 of a pilot valve 44. Opening of the hinged valve 18 by pivoted handle 20 through lever 21 and chain 24 allows water to flow from the closet into outlet 16. The water level drops in the closet and the pressure of the air trapped in chamber 52 decreases to allow the diaphragm to open pilot valve 44 and thus pressure from water inlet 30 is communicated to the other side of main valve member 34 via bore 40 to open the valve. Water flows from inlet 30 to outlet 68 into the closet through pipe 70 and to outlet 66 into a tube 74 connected to the closet outlet 16 through the pipe 72. Valve 18 which is held open by float action closes when the level of water in outlet 16 drops. On the rise of water to the required level in the closet the air trapped in the chamber 52 actuates the pilot and the main valves to shut-off supply of water to the closet. In a modification the pilot valve does not seat on the main valve which moves in a bore parallel to the stem 46.</p> |
