Transfer of lifting cable for patient lift between carriages, using connecting cable attached to patient lift and runner cable

The ends of a runner cable (14) are attached to the two carriages (5, 6) at approximately roof height. A connecting cable (16) has one end which can be slid along the runner cable and the other end is secured to the patient lift (9). The patient lift is supported by the connecting and runner cables after the lifting cable (10) for the patient lift has been detached from the first carriage and then the lifting cable can be attached to the second carriage and the connecting cable can be detached from the lift. An Independent claim is also included for a patient lift.
