PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an objective lens drive unit capable of simply and surely holding a holder provided with at least an object lens, at the neutral position of a focus direction and a tracking direction. SOLUTION: In holding the holder 15 at the neutral position of the focus direction and the tracking direction, driving currents to a focusing coil 29 and tracking coils 30 and 31 are respectively switched to a no supplying state, thereby a piece to be attracted 34 is magnetically attracted by a magnetic body 12 in arrangement such that the piece 34 is opposed to the neighborhood of the center of the outer peripheral part 33 of the magnetic body 12 and crosses the outer periphery, to hold the holder 15 at the neutral position of the focus direction and the tracking direction. In particular, by utilizing an edge effect occurring at the outer peripheral part 33 of the magnetic body 12, the piece to be attracted 34 is held at a prescribed neutral position.
