PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproduction system which decreases data errors and provides higher reliability by correcting the vertical asymmetry as the effect of a PRML (Partial Response Maximum Likelihood) is not obtainable if a vertically asymmetric reproduced signal is generated in the reproduced signals of an optical disk or the like. SOLUTION: The system has an analog-to-digital converter for converting the analog signal reproduced from a recording medium to a digital signal, a filter for digitally filtering the converted digital signal, a decoder of subjecting the digitally filtered signal to maximum likelihood decoding, and a demodulator for demodulating the decoded signal, and corrects the 0/1 decision level of waveforms and the vertical asymmetry by controlling the analog-to-digital converter by using the digital signal.
