The hemispherical tip (7) of the injector has a rectangular slot (16) cut into it, to suit the tip diameter. This injects droplets of hydrocarbon liquid mixed with atomization gas, into the reaction chamber. The slot opening angle (alpha) depends on the maximum dimension of the rectangle and is 95-125 degrees, preferably 100 -115 degrees.
