PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor in which the record control section of a general purpose single beam printer engine is employed, as it is, in the record control section of a multibeam printer engine, its processing method and an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The image processor comprises a record control section 101 generating an image signal, and an image processing section 102 for delivering a multibeam sync signal, being delivered from a multibeam printer engine 103 for recording an image using the lights emitted from a plurality of light emitting elements by driving them depending on the image signal in parallel for scanning, to the record control section 101 while converting into a sync signal for the record control section 101, and delivering an image signal being generated from the record control section 101 to the multibeam printer engine 103 through output buffers 105 and 106 as a number of image signals corresponding to the number of the plurality of light emitting elements wherein any one of the output buffer 105 or 106 is set as an output buffer depending on the standard of the input buffer of the multibeam printer engine 103.
