PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stainless steel vessel, which is hardly stained with oil, from which oil can be readily removed even if the vessel is stained with oil, which does not allow dot-like stains to remain after drying, and is free from conspicuous fingerprint in handling. SOLUTION: A hydrophilic film expressed by formula Li<SB>a</SB>Na<SB>b</SB>K<SB>c</SB>(SiO<SB>m</SB>)<SB>x</SB>(ZrO<SB>n</SB>)<SB>y</SB>(H<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>z</SB>(wherein, a, b, c, and z are each an arbitrary number; m and n are each a natural number of 1-4; and x+y=1) is provided on the surface of a stainless steel base material of the stainless steel vessel. The hydrophilic film may contain an aluminum ion or one kind or more of divalent metal ions selected from those of alkaline earth metals, Zn, and Cu. Preferably, the hydrophilic film containing aluminum ions or divalent metal ions is further mixed with copolymers containing polyacrylic acid or acrylic monomers. And further the stainless steel base material is modified to have a surface roughness of Rz: 0.1-10μm prior to the formation of the hydrophilic film. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
